AIGA Article Editorial & Webpage Layout
Print, UX/UI
Tools: Adobe InDesign, Figma
Project Goal: Choose an article from AIGA’s Eye on Design and utilize the text and images from said article to design a four page print layout that mixes text and image as well as a single scroll website version of the article.
Process: I began this process by choosing my article and sketching out potential ways to effectively adapt the article information into an editorial print layout on InDesign. I then moved to actually laying out the text in the software and drew inspiration from features used in the digital article, such as bright glitter textures and patterns, and found ways to utilize those in the print version as a callback to the original source. Lastly, I took the design elements from my print design and adapted them into an interactive single scroll webpage.
Result: The final editorial layout utilizes bright colors, color coding, negative space, and pull-quotes to both organize the article’s information in an easy-to-read and understandable way while also highlighting the unique features and stories behind each cover. As for the website, I wanted to allow for a lot of interactivity to highlight the hands-on creativity utilized in the creative process of each of the covers, so the pull-quotes, accents, and images from the print design are rearranged and made interactive to adapt the article to a web format.
