LRRA Disc Golf Upgrade

Branding, UX/UI

Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro

Project Goal: Redesign the user experience of the Lake Raleigh Recreation Area (LRRA) disc golf course located on NC State’s Centennial campus. Do so through rebranding the course as a whole to reflect Centennial campus and Lake Raleigh simultaneously and improving the experience by implementing clear signage and wayfinding.

Process: My two group mates and I began this process by going on a guided tour of the LRRA disc golf course and then visiting and playing through the course multiple times on our own. After researching other disc golf courses and noting our findings, we conducted interviews with individuals of varying disc golf skill levels and formulated a persona, Elliott Twigg, and a user journey map based on their responses to guide our design process. We then built a new brand for the course, designed a clear course map, and developed a wayfinding system for players to utilize.

Result: The final product is entitled “Centennial Disc Golf” with the slogan, “Discover Lake Raleigh”. It is simple, clean, and reflects the innovation and elegance of both NC State’s Centennial campus and Lake Raleigh. Clear signage and wayfinding helps make the course more understandable and easy to navigate, as well as makes the disc golf experience a more cohesive one. All of these aspects are exemplified in the short advertisement we filmed as a demo of our concepts.
