Kickoff to Kindergarten Rebrand - Marbles Kids Museum
Branding, UX/UI
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Figma
Project Goal: Alongside two group mates, reimagine the Lunch Line activity and develop a new brand and webpage for the Kickoff to Kindergarten event at Marbles Kids Museum in Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina to present to the museum’s design and marketing staff.
Process: My group mates and I began this design process by observing families at Marbles Kids Museum in real time and taking note of how children and their parents maneuvered the museum space. We then researched numerous precedents and to observe how other children’s platforms and locations were set up and evaluate what they did successfully. We also toured the space that the Lunch Line activity is held in at the museum and noted ways that it could be improved. From that point, we moved into an ideation phase where we developed a new brand for the event as a whole and thought out ways to restructure the Lunch Line activity as well as the event webpage.
Result: The final result is a brand that emphasizes fun, learning, and welcomeness through bright colors, iconic school imagery, rounded shapes, and a unique character,"Bernie the Worm”. The Lunch Line activity specifically was redesigned to be much more clear via the signage utilized and the actual layout of the activity, as well as to be more engaging with fun table centerpieces and plentiful iconography that children can relate to. Overall, our goal was to make the entire event as clear and user-friendly as possible while maintaining a child-friendly approach for kids and their parents alike to utilize and enjoy.
