Project Overview

Designlife Magazine is the official annual magazine for NC State University’s College of Design. Each issue highlights student work, alumni stories and updates, and significant faculty research through editorial features. My role was to serve as a student designer alongside a second student designer, the magazine editor, and a faculty design advisor to create this 2026 issue of Designlife. Specifically, I designed the layout of the front and back covers as well as numerous editorial feature spreads throughout the issue in correspondence with the established style guidelines of Designlife Magazine.

The Challenge

Part of the design process for the previous 2025 issue of Designlife Magazine was to redesign the style guidelines of the magazine. The look was completely reimagined with new type, color, image, and grid guidelines as compared to issues from years prior. For the 2026 issue, we were tasked with maintaining that revamped look with new content; the first time new content beyond 2025 had been tested with this new style.
