Don’t Worry, Eat Happy Nutrient Spray - Critical Design

Branding

Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Project Goal: The goal of this project was to design a "response" of some sort to a potential future problem as a form of critical design. I chose to critique our growing dependence as a society on processed food, and to explore the future of nutrition if we continue to rely on and become addicted to the convenience and taste of ultra-processed foods. Through this project, I strived to raise the question, "How far would we go to not have to change our eating habits?"

Process: Initial research involving digging deeper into specifics about our society's dependence on and addiction to the materials in ultra-processed food began this design process. From there, I formulated the idea for synthetic nutrient sprays and designed a brand for said product, as well as developed multiple ads, social media posts, and customer reviews that pushed the ideas and brand aesthetic I was trying to convey.

Result: The final product is "Don't Worry, Eat Happy", a line of synthetic nutrient sprays with a friendly, upscale feel designed to be, "the easy way to eat healthy". Why actually eat healthy when you could spray healthiness onto your favorite junk food? This is a question I felt could potentially surface in the future if we continue to grow our reliance on processed foods. Ultimately, we may end up blindly reaching and paying for spray-on health that isn't even good for us in the long run simply to fuel our addictions rather than actually eating healthy.
