Project Goal: Develop a series of compositions that incorporate an organic icon, letterform, image, block of text, and color, and translate the final composition into an animation.

Process: I began this design process by choosing the icon that I wanted to create. I chose to design an icon based off of one of my perfume bottles as it has a very unique shape, so I designed the icon in Illustrator using the pen tool. From there, I created the compositions in phases, gradually implementing each new feature over time and choosing the letterforms, text, etcetera based on how well they complimented the shape of my icon. I then storyboarded an animation version of my composition using all of the elements and moved into the software to create the final animation.

Result: The final animation is meant to reflect the message of the text I chose which is the quote, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” I did this by starting out with black and white text and subsequently bringing in the perfume bottle icon as a way to segue into color, vivid imagery, and dynamic text to emphasize “living”.
